Two suspects allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of a man in Bellanwila, Boralesgamuwa, were arrested on the same night while attempting to flee, Sri Lanka Police said.

The shooting took place on Saturday (July 25) in the Bellanwila area of the Boralesgamuwa Police Division. The victim was admitted to the Kalubowila Hospital with gunshot injuries but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said a team of officers attached to the Nawagamuwa Police Station arrested the two suspects in the Ranala area later that night while they were fleeing on a motorcycle.

During the arrest, police also recovered 6.6 grammes of heroin and seized the motorcycle allegedly used by the suspects.

The arrested suspects, aged 28 and 37, are residents of Bakamuna.

Further investigations are being conducted by the Nawagamuwa Police. (Newswire)
