Sri Lanka has recorded more than 81,000 dengue cases so far this year, with 61 deaths reported, according to the latest surveillance data from the National Dengue Surveillance System (NaDSys).

The data, updated as of midnight on July 25, shows that the Western Province continues to account for the highest number of dengue cases, followed by the Southern and Central provinces.

The Gampaha District has recorded the highest number of cases, while Colombo also remains among the worst-affected areas. Several other districts, including Matara, Kandy, Kalutara and Ratnapura, have reported significant numbers of dengue infections.

More than 26,000 cases have been reported in July alone, making it the month with the highest number of cases so far in 2026.

Health authorities have identified 175 high-risk Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas during Week 29 of 2026, with the average midnight dengue case count reported at over 2,300.

The public has been urged to remain vigilant and take preventive measures, including eliminating mosquito breeding sites, as dengue transmission continues across several parts of the country. (Newswire)
