A 63-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 35-year-old daughter following a long-standing land dispute in the Kalutara North area.

Police said the incident took place on May 4 in the Bosiripura area, where the woman was critically injured after being assaulted with an iron rod. She was admitted to the Nagoda Hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

Investigations have revealed that the suspect, her father, carried out the attack following an escalation of an ongoing dispute over land ownership.

The suspect is currently in police custody, while the body has been placed at the Kalutara Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Kalutara North Police are conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
