The Department of Meteorology forecasts showers or thundershowers throughout the day in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central and Uva provinces, with localized heavy rainfall of about 50 mm likely in parts of the Northern Province.
Afternoon showers are also expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions are forecast in Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces during early morning hours. Showers will affect sea areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Mannar, Kankasanthurai, and Trincomalee, with possible evening or night thundershowers in other coastal regions.
Winds will be north-easterly at 30–40 km/h, increasing to 50–55 km/h at times from Kalutara to Trincomalee via Puttalam and Kankasanthurai.
These sea areas may be rough at times, while others will remain moderate. Temporary gusty winds and rough seas are expected during thundershowers.
