Sri Lanka’s dengue cases near 70,000 as deaths rise to 48

Sri Lanka has recorded nearly 70,000 dengue cases so far this year, with the total reaching 69,951 as of July 13, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The latest figures show an increase of 1,279 cases from the 68,672 infections reported a day earlier.
The Western Province continues to account for the highest number of cases, reporting 36,795 infections. Of these, Gampaha District has recorded the highest number at 14,464 cases, followed by Colombo District with 14,004.
The NDCU said 14,572 dengue cases have been reported during the first 13 days of July.
June recorded the highest monthly total so far this year, with 21,538 dengue infections.
Meanwhile, the number of dengue-related deaths reported this year has risen to 48, according to the latest health data. (Newswire)
