Sri Lanka has, for the first time, appointed a representative to Palestine at ambassadorial level.
Accordingly, Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath has appointed M. Fauser as Sri Lanka’s representative in Palestine.
A cordial discussion between the Minister and Fauser was held this afternoon ahead of his departure to assume duties.
During the meeting, Fauser noted that Sri Lanka has long maintained close relations with Palestine. He said he hopes to carry out his duties in line with the position of the Sri Lankan government. He has previously served as Secretary of the Palestine Solidarity Committee of Sri Lanka for an extended period.
Following the discussion, Minister Herath congratulated Fauser and wished him success in his new role.
Fauser is scheduled to depart Sri Lanka tonight (04) to begin his assignment. (Newswire)
