A shooting incident was reported at a house in the Gangoda area of Midigama at around 11.45 p.m. yesterday (18), police said.
The attack targeted a residence in Yahuwatta, Gangoda. No casualties were reported, although several areas of the house were hit by gunfire.
Police stated that two unidentified gunmen who arrived on a motorcycle carried out the attack.
Residents said the suspects had opened the gate, entered the premises, set fire to a vehicle parked in front of the house, and then fired approximately five shots.
Police suspect the shooting may be linked to an underworld gang known as “Midigama Lansi”, allegedly over a dispute involving the house owner, a 35-year-old businessman.
At the time of the shooting, the businessman, his wife, their two children, and another adult were inside the house. No injuries were reported.
