A person was shot and wounded in a shooting incident at a hotel near the Kadirana Bridge in Wattala on Thursday night, Police said.

The victim sustained gunshot injuries and was admitted to hospital for treatment. The identity of the injured person and the motive behind the shooting had not been disclosed at the time of reporting.

Police have launched an investigation to identify the suspects and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The shooting is the second reported in the country on Thursday, following an earlier gun attack in Dematagoda. (Newswire)
