Sri Lanka has recorded over 100,000 tourist arrivals in the first three weeks of September, pushing the total cumulative arrivals for 2026 to 1,642,215.

According to the latest figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the island welcomed 107,093 international tourists during the first three weeks of the month, with India continuing to dominate as the primary source market.

India accounted for 32,536 arrivals in September, representing roughly 30% of all visitors. The United Kingdom ranked as the second largest market with 7,906 arrivals, followed by Australia with 7,393 visitors. China and Germany rounded out the top five source markets for the month, recording 6,409 and 5,440 arrivals respectively.

For the January-September period, India remained the largest overall contributor with 418,019 cumulative arrivals. The United Kingdom followed as the second largest market with 157,895 arrivals, while China recorded 107,237, Germany 95,441 and Australia 83,431. (Newswire)
