Scammers posing as Deputy Minister target public with fake calls

The office of Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Chathuranga Abeysinghe has warned the public about individuals allegedly impersonating the Deputy Minister to carry out fraudulent activities.
According to a public notice, complaints have been received that an individual or group has been making phone calls posing as the Deputy Minister and requesting money while engaging in other fraudulent activities.
The public has been urged not to provide any money, personal information, or documents to such individuals.
Anyone receiving suspicious phone calls or messages has been advised to immediately inform the nearest police station or the relevant authorities. (newswire)
