A 23-year-old Russian national has been killed after being struck by an express train travelling from Beliatta to Colombo.

The accident occurred this morning (19) at the Kabalana railway crossing. Reports indicate that the woman was travelling on an electric scooter at the time of the incident.

It is stated that the railway crossing’s light signals were active when the accident took place. Ahangama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
