Supporters of the New Democratic Front, led by Sugeeshwara Bandara, staged a protest outside the residence of Finance Ministry Secretary, Harshana Suriyapperuma, in Pelawatta, Akuregoda, on Tuesday (28).

The demonstration was held to protest the recently reported $2.5 million Treasury cyber fraud.

During the protest, former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s Private Secretary, Sugeeshwara Banadara and several others were attacked with cow dung.

A tense situation arose between the two groups, prompting police intervention to restore order. (Newswire)
