Police have launched an investigation into a double death incident reported from a residence in the Nikadhalupotha area within the Wellawa Police Division.

According to police, a woman was found dead at the scene following an attack with a sharp weapon, while a man was later found dead by hanging inside the same house.

The deceased are a 40-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both residents of the area.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a dispute between the two had escalated, leading to the fatal attack on the woman, followed by the man’s suspected suicide.
