Nepal’s former PM Prachanda visits JVP, meets Tilvin Silva

Nepal’s former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” met Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva at the JVP headquarters in Pelawatte, Battaramulla on Saturday.
According to the JVP, the discussions focused on the political journey of the JVP and the National People’s Power (NPP) before coming to power, as well as the experiences of the Communist Party of Nepal.
The two sides also discussed the NPP government’s efforts to stabilise Sri Lanka’s economy, increase wages for public sector and plantation workers, combat corruption, and reform what it described as a privilege-based political culture.
They also exchanged views on the government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative and measures being taken to combat drug trafficking.
The meeting was attended by Indian Marxist intellectual Vijay Prashad, Professor Xinyu Lu of East China Normal University, members of the Communist Party of Nepal, representatives of the International People’s Assembly, and several JVP representatives, including Environment Minister Dhammika Patabendi and Deputy Labour Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe.
