Man arrested with illegally assembled jeep in Kottawa

A 39-year-old suspect has been arrested in possession of a jeep allegedly assembled using vehicle spare parts illegally brought into Sri Lanka, Police said.
The arrest was made during a raid conducted by officers of the Western Province South Crime Investigation Division in the Kottawa Police area on the night of 29 May.
Police said the jeep had allegedly been assembled using illegally imported vehicle parts and was being driven without a valid revenue licence, insurance certificate or emission test report.
The suspect was also arrested over the alleged preparation and use of forged documents related to the vehicle.
The arrested suspect is a resident of the Vitharandeniya area.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Western Province South Crime Investigation Division. (Newswire)
