HNB Partners with Hayleys Solar to Power Sri Lanka’s Green Energy Future

In a significant move towards accelerating Sri Lanka’s transition to renewable energy, Hatton National Bank has entered into a strategic partnership with Hayleys Solar, the renewable energy arm of Hayleys Fentons Limited, to expand access to affordable solar energy solutions for households and businesses across the country.
The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the HNB Head Office, with senior representatives from both organisations in attendance, marking a new chapter in customer focused sustainable financing.
Under the partnership, customers seeking solar financing through HNB will gain access to high quality solar energy systems provided by Hayleys Solar, backed by tailored financial solutions designed to make clean energy adoption more accessible and financially manageable.
The initiative targets both domestic consumers and the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector, offering flexible repayment periods of up to seven years along with competitive interest rates aligned with repayment tenure. The partnership aims to ease financial barriers often associated with solar installation, enabling more Sri Lankans to invest in long-term energy savings and sustainability.
Officials from both organisations said the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to promoting environmentally responsible solutions while supporting the country’s growing energy demands through renewable sources.
As Sri Lanka continues to prioritise renewable energy and energy independence, the partnership is expected to contribute towards national sustainability goals by encouraging wider solar adoption, reducing carbon emissions and strengthening long term energy resilience.
The collaboration also highlights the increasing role of private sector partnerships in driving the country’s green transformation, while providing customers with practical and cost effective pathways towards cleaner energy solutions.
With rising energy costs and growing awareness surrounding environmental sustainability, industry analysts believe initiatives such as this could play a vital role in reshaping how Sri Lankan households and businesses consume and manage energy in the years ahead.
