The Department of Meteorology has issued a warm weather advisory for Thursday (30), warning that the heat index is expected to reach the ‘Caution level’ in parts of the Eastern Province and five districts.

The advisory covers the Eastern Province and the districts of Kilinochchi, Mullaittivu, Vavuniya, Polonnaruwa and Monaragala.

The heat index, which reflects the temperature felt by the human body, is likely to reach caution levels in some areas during daytime hours.

The Department has advised the public to take necessary precautions to minimise the impact of the prevailing hot weather. (Newswire)
