Foreign Minister meets senior US official to strengthen bilateral ties

Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath met visiting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US State Department Nicole Chulick and US Embassy Charge d’Affaires Jayne Howell at the Ministry today, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation.
In a post on ‘X’, Minister Herath said that during the discussions, Chulick conveyed the US Government’s appreciation for the enhanced bilateral partnership with Sri Lanka following the election of President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka.
Minister Herath, in turn, expressed gratitude for Washington’s recent grant of 10 Bell helicopters and the fourth Coast Guard Cutter to Sri Lanka.
Talks focused on progressing relations across multiple areas, with Minister Herath briefing the delegation on Sri Lanka’s recovery efforts after Cyclone Ditwah and challenges arising from the situation in the Middle East.
Minister Hearth added that both sides agreed to further ongoing cooperation and expand the partnership into new spheres. (Newswire)
