Flood alert issued for Thanthrimale as Malwathu Oya water levels rise

The Irrigation Department has issued a flood alert to the Thanthrimale area due to the rising water levels of the Malwathu Oya. 

According to the department, water levels in the other rivers across Sri Lanka remain at normal level, as of 06.30 am today. 

The Irrigation Department further noted that the highest rainfall reported in the last 21 hours ending at 06.00 am today is in the Panadugama area, recording 120.8 mm of rain.

The Urawa area has recorded 67.8 mm of rain, while the Ellagawa area has recorded 58.7 mm of rain during this period. (Newswire)
