Sri Lanka Customs has uncovered two separate attempts to smuggle large quantities of dried turmeric concealed within consignments of imported dried chillies on Monday (04).

In one detection, officers seized 6,600 kg of dried turmeric hidden in a shipment imported from India by a businessman based in Kandy.

In a separate operation on the same day, Customs officials also detected 7,110 kg of dried turmeric concealed within another consignment of dried chillies imported by a businessman from Badulla. (Newswire)
