Payments under the Aswesuma welfare scheme for the month of April will be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts on Wednesday (22) as announced by the Welfare Benefits Board.

The board said Rs. 3.087 billion will be disbursed as allowances to 617,406 beneficiaries aged over 70 under the first phase of the programme.

In addition, Rs. 362.6 million will be paid to 72,525 beneficiaries in the same age category under the second phase. (Newswire)
