The Sugathadasa National Sports Complex has been equipped with a new electronic timing system and other modern swimming competition equipment for the first time in 25 years.
The upgraded facilities at the Sugathadasa Aquatic Sports Complex were officially commissioned on Friday (24) by Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage and Deputy Minister Sugath Thilakarathne.
The project included the installation of a new electronic time clock, touch pad system, digital display board and international-standard starting blocks, replacing equipment that had been in use for more than two decades.
The new facilities will improve the accuracy of race timing and provide athletes with training and competition infrastructure that meets international standards, helping them prepare for local and international events. (Newswire)
