Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya departed Sri Lanka on Tuesday evening for the State of Qatar to attend the funeral ceremony of former Qatari leader, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

According to the Prime Minister’s Media Division, the Prime Minister will convey the deepest condolences of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka during the visit.

Dr. Amarasuriya is also scheduled to hold high-level meetings with the leadership of Qatar to reaffirm the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The Prime Minister’s Media Division said the visit reflects the close bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Qatar and underscores Sri Lanka’s commitment to further strengthening ties with the Gulf nation. (Newswire)
