A 26-year-old woman has died after being struck by lightning in the Habaraduwa Police Division amid adverse weather conditions early today (May 3).

According to police, two women were injured when lightning struck a house in the Kokwatta area. Both were admitted to theHospital, where one of the victims succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Kokwatta, Habaraduwa.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the two women were employees of a garment factory in the area and were inside their residence at the time of the incident when the lightning strike occurred.

The other injured woman has been transferred to the Karapitiya Hospital for further treatment.

Habaraduwa Police are conducting further investigations into the incident. (Newswire)
