Verité Research Presents National Guideline on Ethical Reporting of Women and Girls to the Deputy Minister of Mass Media

A meeting with Verité Research – Strategic Analysis for Asia was held at the Ministry of Mass Media today, 4th November 2025, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Mass Media, Dr. Kaushalya Ariyarathne.

The discussion brought together representatives from Verité Research, including the Head of Verité Media and Politics and Deputy Director, Deepanjalie Abeywardana, along with representatives from the Embassy of France, Olivia Bellemère, Counsellor for Cooperation and Culture, and Aurélie Vollerin, Attachée for Cooperation and Education.

The meeting primarily focused on the proposal for a National Media Guideline on Ethical Reporting of Women and the Girl Child. Verité Research presented their findings and recommendations, followed by an engaging discussion on the actions required from both the government and civil society. Key highlights included the need for sensitization programs, budget allocation, and potential amendments to the Penal Code to strengthen ethical and gender-sensitive media practices.
