Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said there are no plans to impose restrictions on vehicle imports, affirming that the market will remain open.
Speaking to reporters, Weerasinghe said that the Central Bank has not taken any steps to limit vehicle imports and that, to his knowledge, the government has not made any such decision either.
“As far as I’m aware, there is no such decision by the government. I believe the minister will make a statement confirming that there is no change,” he said.
Weerasinghe noting the role of macroprudential policies in maintaining economic stability, said that the Central Bank has ensured the financial system remains stable and that borrower risk has been appropriately managed at this time. (Newswire)
