Sri Lanka Customs collects Rs. 106.6B in first 13 days of 2026

Sri Lanka Customs has reported strong revenue performance in the opening weeks of 2026, collecting 106.6 billion rupees in the first 13 days of January, amounting to more than 66 per cent of the month’s target of 160.2 billion rupees, according to official data.
The department has accelerated container clearance since last month, following disruptions caused by Cyclone Ditwah, which halted operations for at least four days in November, and amid higher import volumes in December.
In 2025, Sri Lanka Customs achieved a record 2,551 billion rupees in revenue, surpassing the revised annual target of 2,241 billion rupees and marking a 64.2 per cent increase compared to the previous year’s revenue of 1,553 billion rupees.
For 2026, Customs has set a revenue target of 2,207 billion rupees, 13.5 per cent lower than last year, as officials anticipate a significant decline in car imports. (Newswire)
