A former Local Council member has been injured and hospitalised following a shooting incident in Meegoda today.

Police said the victim was shot by unidentified gunmen while travelling in the area. He was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds and is receiving treatment.

“Former member of the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha, Shantha Mudunkotuwa, was shot at along the Attygalle road in Meegoda by assailants in a car, while he was riding a motorbike” Police Media Spokesperson said.

An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the suspects. (Newswire)
