The Cabinet has approved a proposal to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Boseong local government in South Korea to facilitate the employment of Sri Lankan workers under Korea’s E-8 visa category for seasonal agricultural work.
The move follows Cabinet decisions on February 19 and July 1, 2025, to implement a pilot project enabling Sri Lankan workers to participate in South Korea’s periodical employment program.
Under the proposed MoU, Sri Lankan workers will have the opportunity to work in agricultural villages in Boseong Province for a period of up to eight months.
The initiative aims to boost individual income and increase foreign exchange earnings for Sri Lanka. (Newswire)
