Three men and a woman have been arrested by the Kandy Police in connection with the assault of a school bus driver in the Hanthana area on July 25.

The suspects are aged 21, 26, 27, and 38, and are residents of the Kandy area.

The incident occurred after a private bus transporting schoolchildren from Anuradhapura to Hanthana collided with a three-wheeler.

Following the accident, a group of individuals reportedly assaulted the bus driver, despite attempts by teachers and parents on board to prevent the attack.

The injured driver was later hospitalized.

The suspects were produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court yesterday (26). The female suspect was released on bail, while the three male suspects were remanded until July 28.
