President slams Harsha & Kabir in Parliament

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today strongly criticized SJB MP Harsha de Silva in Parliament, rejecting claims that Sri Lanka would face higher U.S. trade tariffs.

He accused the opposition of hoping for the country’s collapse instead of supporting national recovery efforts.

“First you expected bombs in Colombo during Indo-Pakistan tensions, during Iran-Israel conflict, and then with US tariffs. That was their wish.” The President said.

“Just two days ago, they said that the US tarrifs would rise to 44%. That was their wish. You always dream of an economic collapse in this country. But nothing collapsed. Stop dreaming of economic ruin. Change your political lens,” he added.

Mocking previous predictions by the opposition of political change, the President questioned earlier statements that a new president would take office in August or December, particularly targeting SJB MP Kabir Hashim’s claims. (Newswire)
