Police issue warning on social media use during New Year holidays

Police have warned the public to be cautious about their social media activity when leaving home during the New Year holidays, highlighting risks linked to digital footprints.
In a notice, police advised against sharing real-time updates or check-ins, noting that such posts reveal that homes are unoccupied.
The public was encouraged to follow the “later-gram” concept—posting content after returning home instead of sharing it instantly.
Police also urged people to avoid immediately uploading photos and videos of their trips on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, and instead share them after the journey is completed.
They stressed that revealing one is away from home can serve as an easy tip-off for burglars. (NewsWire)
