PCB fines Pakistan players PKR 5 million each after T20 World Cup exit

The Pakistan Cricket Board has fined each member of Pakistan’s squad PKR 5 million (about $18,000) following the team’s underwhelming campaign at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Pakistan were eliminated in the Super Eight stage of the tournament, missing out on the semifinals of an ICC men’s event for the fourth consecutive time — the first such occurrence in the country’s cricket history.
Local media reports said the decision was taken after internal discussions within the board over the team’s performance. The fine applies to all members of the World Cup squad.
Pakistan entered the tournament with high expectations but failed to secure a place in the last four after inconsistent performances in the Super Eight phase.
The PCB has not publicly detailed whether additional structural or leadership changes will follow, but the fines signal growing pressure on the national side after repeated early exits in major ICC tournaments. (Newswire)
