President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said the visit of Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, along with the arrival of the Pakistani national cricket team, further strengthens the long-standing friendship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
The President made the remarks while meeting a delegation that included Minister Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, at the Presidential Secretariat on Monday (16).
President Dissanayake expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for facilitating and convincing the cricket team to participate in the T20 World Cup match against India, and appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support to Sri Lanka during times of difficulty, including the recent Cyclone Ditwah.

The delegation highlighted Pakistan’s intention to further develop relations with Sri Lanka, including potential cooperation in investment, labor markets, and tourism, and expressed hope for more extensive discussions in the future.
