Opposition Leader calls for immediate peace talks in Middle East

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called for an immediate end to escalating hostilities in the Middle East, warning that the conflict poses a serious threat to global peace and security.
In a message posted on X, Premadasa condemned the expansion of the conflict through attacks targeting countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Bahrain.
He urged all parties to halt military action and begin peace talks and negotiations without delay.
“Prevailing aggression and conflict in the middle east is a significant threat to global peace and security. Expansion of the theatre of conflict through attacks on Saudi Arabia Kuwait UAE Qatar Bahrain and other middle eastern countries must be vehemently condemned. Stop the war and commence peace talks and negotiations promptly. Lives of over 1 million Srilankans working in the Middle East are of paramount importance. War must be avoided at all cost. Give peace a chance,” he said.
Premadasa also highlighted the safety of more than one million Sri Lankans employed in Middle Eastern countries, stating that their lives are of paramount importance.(Newswire)
