A violent clash between two groups in the Araliya Niwasa area of Mount Lavinia yesterday (01) evening has left one person dead and another seriously injured.

According to Mount Lavinia Police, two individuals who sustained critical injuries from sharp weapons were rushed to Lunawa Hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. The deceased was identified as a 28-year-old resident of Angulana.

The other injured individual was transferred to Kalubowila Hospital for further medical attention.

Initial investigations indicate the clash arose due to a dispute between the two groups. Police have identified the suspects responsible for the attack and have launched operations to arrest them. (Newswire)
