Two persons were shot dead in the Thalangama–Akuregoda area, police said.

The shooting took place in the car park of a supermarket in Akuregoda. The victims were inside a vehicle at the time of the attack and died at the scene from gunshot injuries.

Police suspect that a T56 firearm was used in the shooting.

The victims have been identified as a man and a woman. Further details regarding their identities have not yet been released.

Thalangama Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive for the shooting and to identify those responsible. (Newswire)
