A 36-year-old man from Ganemulla was arrested on Wednesday, August 6, in Seeduwa with 550 grams of heroin in his possession, Police said.

The arrest took place while the suspect was traveling in a car, which was seized along with a mobile phone.

The operation was carried out based on information obtained from a previous arrest involving another suspect found with 440 grams of heroin.

According to Police, the suspect is believed to have links to organized criminal networks operating from abroad.

He is scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court. The Western Province North Crime Division is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
