The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) says legal action will be taken against public officials who failed to submit their asset and liability declarations for the year 2025.
In a statement, the Commission said that declarations for 2025 were due by March 31 and had to be submitted to the head of the respective institution by June 30, 2025.
However, officials who have still not submitted their declarations by July 31 are now liable to be prosecuted under Section 90 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023.
The Commission added that late submissions made between June 30 and August 31 would result in fines in accordance with the law. Officials who have not yet submitted their declarations have been urged to do so immediately to minimize possible penalties.
Furthermore, heads of institutions are required to accept declarations submitted after June 30. If any declaration is refused by the institutional head, the matter must be reported to CIABOC, the statement added. (Newswire)
