ICC team of the T20 World Cup: Players from 7 countries

Four players from India men’s national cricket team have been named in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament following their title-winning campaign.
Sanju Samson, who was named Player of the Tournament, was included as wicketkeeper after scoring 321 runs in five matches at an average of 80.25 and a strike rate of 199.37. Samson produced crucial knocks of 97 not out against West Indies, 89 against England in the semi-final and 89 in the final against New Zealand.
Opening batter Sahibzada Farhan topped the run charts in the tournament with 383 runs in seven matches, including two centuries — the first player to achieve the feat in a single T20 World Cup edition.
India’s Ishan Kishan was also included after scoring 317 runs in nine matches, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya earned a place with 217 runs and nine wickets in the tournament.
Aiden Markram was named captain of the side after leading South Africa national cricket team to the semi-finals.

The selection panel included former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop, former England captain Eoin Morgan, commentator Natalie Germanos, ICC representative Gaurav Saxena and Sri Lankan sports journalist Rex Clementine.
India won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 by defeating New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final in Ahmedabad, becoming the first team to win back-to-back titles in the tournament. (newswire)
