Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail across most parts of the island over the next 36 hours, according to the Department of Meteorology.

However, the Met Department warned of a possibility of ground frost in some areas of the Nuwara Eliya district during the early hours of the Saturday morning.

In addition, misty conditions are likely in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northwestern, North-Central and Uva provinces, as well as in the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.

The general weather forecast was issued at 4.00 p.m. today (16 January).
