The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has decided to import 2,000 cabs for state institutions.

Minister Dr. Chandana Abayrathna said some institutions have gone nearly 15 years without new vehicles, causing severe difficulties for officials on field duties.

He added the decision follows a review of existing challenges and the President’s instructions, with priority given to addressing the vehicle shortage at Divisional Secretariat offices.
