Free Sri Lanka Visa Extension for Foreigners Stranded by Middle East Crisis

The Sri Lankan government has announced a free seven-day visa extension for foreign visitors who are unable to leave the country due to flight cancellations linked to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
The Department of Immigration and Emigration said the measure applies to all foreign nationals whose visas expire while they remain in Sri Lanka because outbound flights have been disrupted or cancelled.
Under the arrangement, visitors will be granted a no-cost, seven-day extension to their existing visas to allow them time to rearrange travel plans without facing overstay penalties.
Officials said the move is intended to support travellers affected by the current disruption in international flight schedules and to ensure that visitors remain legally in the country while alternative arrangements are made. (Newswire)
