Crew of Iranian ship near Sri Lanka to be brought to Colombo Port: President

Sri Lanka will pursue a neutral policy amid the ongoing conflict in the region, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.
Addressing the situation involving an Iranian vessel near Sri Lanka’s territorial waters, the President said the crew of the Iranian ship IRIS Bushehr will be disembarked at Colombo Port.
He said the vessel will then be taken to Trincomalee Harbour, with the Sri Lanka Navy making arrangements to safely bring the 208 personnel on board to Colombo.
The President also dismissed rumours circulating on social media claiming that 300 children were on board the Iranian vessel, stating that the information was false.
He urged all parties to refrain from exploiting the current situation for narrow political gains, stressing the need for responsible conduct during a sensitive period. (Newswire)
