Bribery case against former deputy minister Sarana Gunawardena: Verdict set for April 30

The Colombo High Court on Tuesday (3) fixed April 30 to deliver its verdict in four bribery cases filed against former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena.
The cases were taken up before High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal, where oral submissions by both the prosecution and defense were concluded.
After hearing arguments, the court scheduled April 30 for the pronouncement of judgment in all four cases.
Gunawardena is accused of causing a loss to the state in 2006 while serving as chairman of the National Lotteries Board by allegedly obtaining vehicles for the institution on a rental basis.
The indictments were filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption during the previous Yahapalana administration. (NewsWire)
