The bodies of a mother and her two young daughters have been discovered inside a well in the Mankulam–Panikkankulam area in Mullaitivu.

According to reports, the well is located approximately 500 metres away from their residence. The deceased have been identified as a 38-year-old woman and her daughters aged 11 and 4.

Villagers had informed the local Grama Niladhari and the police after finding a food parcel and several other items near the well this morning (24). Subsequent investigations led to the recovery of the three bodies from the well.

Mankulam Police have launched further investigations to determine whether it was a case of suicide or if foul play was involved. (Newswire)
