Above 100 mm of rain expected in some areas of Sri Lanka today
The prevailing showery condition over the south-western parts of Sri Lanka is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, according to the Department of Meteorology.
As such, showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western and Southern provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Heavy falls of above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces, and the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Light showers may occur in the North-central province and in the Matale, Mannar and Jaffna districts.
Strong winds of about 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills, the Central, Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in the Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
