The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Central, North-Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and North-Western provinces and the Ampara District. 

According to the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today, red alerts have been issued to 12 districts and amber alerts have been issued to 11 districts. 

The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activities. (Newswire)
