Court will be notified if Gammanpila arrest is decided : AG
The Attorney General’s Department informed the Court of Appeal today (Sept. 24) that if a decision is made to arrest former Minister Udaya Gammanpila, the court will be notified through a motion.
The submission was made by Additional Solicitor General Sudarshana de Silva, appearing for the CID, during the hearing of a writ petition filed by Gammanpila seeking to prevent his arrest.
On Sept. 12, the CID told the court that no arrest decision had been made at that point and investigations were ongoing.
Gammanpila filed the petition under the ICCPR Act, naming several officials, including the IGP and Public Security Ministry Secretary, as respondents. (Newswire)
