Govt to launch ‘SuperApp’ to access all public services
Cabinet approval has been granted to develop a ‘Government SuperApp’ that will enable citizens to access government services through a single digital application.
It has been observed that citizens currently face significant difficulties due to the fragmented nature of service delivery, requiring repeated data entry across different systems, multi-layered authentication processes, and various government departments.
Estimates indicate that this inefficiency results in an annual economic loss exceeding Rs. 500 million.
Therefore, in alignment with Sri Lanka’s digital economy strategy, the development of a comprehensive ‘Government SuperApp’ has been identified as a strategic priority to deliver government services through a unified platform.
This project aims to integrate all government services into a single, user-friendly mobile and web application, providing seamless access to over 14 million citizens aged 18 and above, as well as 2 million annual visitors, through one unified interface.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the President’s proposal to implement the Government SuperApp project in two phases, with a total budget of Rs. 500 million, during the 2025–2026 period. (Newswire)
